Snuggled away in the basement under Glasgow institution The Buttery, near Charing Cross, The Shandon Belles has all the knowledge and passion of its big sister upstairs, and the other Two Fat Ladies restaurants, but at more affordable every day prices.
The room is cosy and quirkily decorated, with antiques the owners have collected scattered around, throw cushions and bright orange table cloths.
The great value set menu is reworked regularly and as you would expect from any Two Fat Ladies venture Shandon Belles offers some great seafood, expertly handled, including a daily fish special. The menu is equally good for meat eaters and vegetarians though. At this point Two Fat Ladies restaurant are almost as famous for their desserts as they are for their seafood, and Shandon Belles stands up to this reputation, with the menu featuring their well known and loved sticky toffee pudding and chocolat pot.
Continuing the quirky theme after dinner tea and coffee is served in vintage teacups, again, collected by the owner with some homemade tablet on the side.
For every day, honest cooking, prepared with Two Fat Ladies usual care, head along to The Shandon Belles.
