Based right in the heart of Glasgow, Rogano is a very impressive place indeed. Step off the high street and you’re whisked away to seafood heaven. The moment you set your eyes upon the interior, you’re quick to realise just how special this place really is.
This classy joint with its high ceilings, original art-deco features and unrelenting grandeur, is truly one-of-a-kind. There’s something in this stunning venue that wouldn’t feel out of place in The Godfather trilogy. It’s stylish, but traditional; everything is polished and precise, from the stunning murals adorning many of the walls, right down to the formal dress donned by the waiting staff.
Then there’s the food; the food is fantastic. Dishes are beautifully considered, fresh, light and very flavoursome. Rogano boasts a wide selection of seafood, but their crowning glory has to be their fantastic oysters - prepared in all sorts of varieties. This place is famous for it’s shelled treasures.
Perhaps a cliché, but stepping into Rogano is akin to stepping back in time; it’s a deceptively calm oasis, offering fresh lobster and wine right off busy Buchanan Street. It’s simply stunning and despite feeling very upmarket, there’s no pompousness here; just a fabulously relaxing restaurant, eager to serve you up some delightful seafood and tend to your every need, whether big or small.
Rogano is a quaint, stylish but very relaxed place with a lot of heart and sole, that wecomes you with open arms and sends you on your way with a full stomach.
