Cup Tea Lounge

The popularity of cupcakes and afternoon tea shows no signs of slowing down and the name ‘Cup’ has become synonymous with delectable cakes and luxurious treats in Glasgow.

Sister to the original venue on Byres Road Cup Tea Lounge is situated in a grand B listed building in the city centre.  The beautiful tiled interior sets an appropriately opulent tone in which to indulge your sweet tooth.  The afternoon teas are an obvious must.  3 tiers featuring delcatable fingers sandwiches, and Cup’s own famous scones and cupcakes.  If you feel like going all out you can have yours with a glass, or bottle, of Champagne or one of their fabulous cocktails.  It’s a big eat but if you’re not able to finish it all the friendly staff will cheerfully offer to box up the leftovers for you to take home and enjoy later.

The staff will also be happy to talk you through their selection of 40 teas.  When you’ve made your choice your teapot is delivered to you with a timer so you know it’s brewed to perfection.

If all this sugar seems a bit much the tea lounge also has excellent breakfast and lunch menus, but I promise you will find it difficult to walk past the cupcakes…

In the evenings the tone of the venue changes slightly.  There’s live music on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights and the food features excellent sharing platters or an ‘Evening Tea’ with a slightly more dinner-ish feel, including brioche sliders and more grown up desserts.

Cup also hosts a number of special events, including flower arranging classes and is available for private hire.  It’s ideal for hen parties,  birthdays and baby showers.
