Overlooking Royal Exchange Square, The Grill Room at the Square is one of the UK’s finest steak houses and, since opening its doors in 2007, it has won multiple awards. These recognise not just the quality of its trademark Scotch beef steaks but also the excellence of the service at this Glasgow city centre restaurant. Part of 29 private members’ club, it is a second home to many of Glasgow’s movers and shakers. The Grill Room is open to all diners.
Grade A Scotch beef is the main focus of the menu in the sumptuously appointed Grill Room and the magnificent selection is displayed in a chilled glass cabinet by the pass into the kitchen. Locally sourced and hand-cut daily, the steaks are dry-aged for tenderness and flavour.
Naturally, The Grill Room at the Square offers not just several cuts of beef but also several breeds of cattle from Wagyu to Black Aberdeen Angus. Whether you would prefer a familiar T-bone or a more exotic New York-style, strip sirloin, the menu is a meat-lover’s delight. All the steaks are served cooked to diners’ specifications and come with a choice of classic sauces. Giant prawns can be added to any steak for diners keen on surf ‘n’ turf.
Of course, there are other, non-steak, options. There are always chicken dishes such as the panko-breaded breast of free range chicken; a fresh fish of the day and vegetarian choices like the leek risotto cake which is served with a poached egg, root vegetable crisps and a tomato sauce. On Sundays, The Grill Room at the Square runs a Sunday roast menu with live music from 2pm.
The private dining rooms at The Grill Room range from a cosy eight seat room to the roof-top marquee which can accommodate up to 40 diners.
